Short answer: it depends on how it's plated.
Most "gold-plated" jewelry you'll find online uses a thin layer of gold electroplated over brass or copper. It looks great in photos, but the coating is thin enough that water, sweat, and everyday friction wear through it in a matter of weeks — that's the "gold turned my skin green" story almost everyone has heard.
What we use is different: PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition), a vacuum-plating process. Instead of dipping the metal in a gold solution, PVD bonds gold to the base metal inside a vacuum chamber, under high heat, at a molecular level. The result is a coating that's significantly harder and more tightly bonded than standard electroplating — which is why it holds up to actual daily life: showers, pools, sweat, all of it.
It's also plated over a high-grade stainless steel base instead of brass, which is naturally more corrosion-resistant on its own, water or not.
None of this means "indestructible" — no plated jewelry is. Abrasive scrubbing, chlorine left to sit for hours, or constant contact with perfume and lotion will wear anything down eventually. But for normal wear — a swim, a shower, a sweaty day — PVD vacuum-plated pieces are built for it in a way standard gold-plated jewelry just isn't.
